Vase_Nom is a research project developed for the Commission Artistique “Créer un Vase” from the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP). The project is orchestrated as an exploration of the production processes found at the core of several manufacturing industries. The project questions how industrial resources and techniques can influence the design of an object - in this case, a vase - and embody a new symbolic identity. Contrary to an anonymous craftsmanship in service of an artistic or cultural vision, ‘Vase_Nom’ places the production process and the various people, techniques and materials involved at the forefront of its design.
